Republic Wireless Now Lets You Take Your Phone With You
Republic Wireless is one of our favorite prepaid mobile carriers , but buying phones from them has always been challenging. However, you can now only get a SIM card and bring your phone.
There is, of course, a small catch. Because the Republic model is based on a sophisticated method of quickly switching between Wi-Fi and cellular networks, only certain phones can be used on their network. Republic used to require you to buy these phones directly from the company so that they could download the software first. You can now buy these phones from any store and install the required software as soon as you receive your Republican SIM.
However, you still have a limited list of phones to take with you. Here’s a complete list of supported phones that you can bring to Republic right now:
- Moto g4
- Moto G4 Plus
- Moto X Pure Edition
- Nexus 5X from LG
- Nexus 6P from Huawei
- Samsung Galaxy J3
- Samsung Galaxy S6
- Samsung Galaxy S7
- Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge
Back in May, Republic announced that they would start adding more mobile phones to their network and allow users to bring their own. This news is a little late, but welcome nonetheless.
