Why You Should Always Keep a Rag in Your Car
There are many things you can store in your car if you have space, but one of the simplest and cheapest items is absolutely essential.
Matthew DeBord, Transportation Editor for Business Insider , invites everyone to keep a simple rag in their car. A rag is an essential component of any workshop, but most people, myself included, forget how useful it can be for your machine. DeBord explains:
You can use it to wipe down the engine so you can see fluid levels better. You can use it to wipe the dipstick when checking the oil level. You can use it to protect your hands when you need to loosen a rigid nut. You can use it to clean your headlights and taillights when the winter gets muddy and slushy. You can also use it, if it’s not too dirty, to remove spills on the inside and even polish on the outside.
You can also use it to keep your safety sensors clean in winter , and if it’s large enough, you can use it to prevent frost from accumulating on your windshield . And the rag can be anything: an old kitchen towel or washcloth, an old T-shirt, a bandana, or just about any piece of scraps of fabric. Basically, it’s a free tool that can save you some major headaches on your next trip. This may sound like obvious advice to some of you, but to others it is a good reminder that the simplest tools can go a long way.
