TRON Workbench
A thdoan reader sent this carefully configured second screen using Rainmeter to our desktop Flickr show and tell pool. Best of all, there is even a video showing how it all works. If you like the look, here’s what you need to do yourself.
In this case, thdoan uses this setting as a second screen that provides a lot of visual information at a glance while the main display is used for work, play, or other normal purposes. Here’s another snapshot:
Since this is all built with Rainmeter, you should definitely know the ins and outs before you start. We have a guide to help .
Here’s what you’ll need when you get a feel for the basics.
- TRON Legacy package for Rainmeter for most of the look
- Eclectic-Tech’s Rainmeter Marquee News Ticker skin for headlines just above the bottom of the screen.
- Fountain of Colors Skin for Rainmeter by alatsombath for the audiovisualizer at the bottom of the screen
- Enigma Skin for Rainmeter for additional elements
That’s all. The TRON Legacy skin does most of the hard work here, so if you have nothing else, get this. In addition, thdoan says on Flickr:
This is my new Rainmeter desktop for the second screen. It’s not overly trendy, but functional, and that was my goal – something practical and relatively distraction-free. It has all the information I need at a glance. All of my most used shortcuts are also a click away, as well as my notepad, the robust Winamp player (controls only show on hover) and the volume rocker. As a bonus, I can also enjoy the spectrum analyzer bands dancing when the music comes on ^ _ ^.
Some of the skins have also been changed, so if you have questions about how they work, be sure to follow the Flickr link below and ask your questions. While you are there, sing your praises and let me know that we sent you!
Do you have a beautiful and functional desktop to show off? Share with us! Post it to your personal Kinja blog using the Desktop Showcase tag or add it to our Lifehacker Desktop Show and Tell Flickr pool . Screenshots must be at least 1280×720 and include information about what you used, links to wallpapers, skins and themes, and any other important information. If your wonderful desktop catches our attention, you may be on our favorites!
