How to Enable App Extensions in Apple Maps for IOS 10

One of the great new features in iOS 10 is the ability to integrate third-party apps into Apple Maps. These extensions are not enabled by default, so you can skip them entirely if you don’t bother digging around in the Settings app.

Maps Extensions allow you to integrate third-party applications into Apple Maps search results. The most obvious useful application for this is something like the OpenTable booking app. When the OpenTable extension is enabled, you can search for a restaurant in Apple Maps and then reserve a table immediately without leaving Maps.

You need to manually enable these extensions:

  1. Go to Settings> Maps.
  2. Set the switch to On. For all apps you want to enable.

This app should now work in Apple Maps. This is where you can add and remove as many apps as you like, although there are only a handful of apps at the moment that even have extensions.
