Keep an Eye on These Infant Milestones for Safety Guidelines
If you’re a parent, you’ve heard the rules a million times: Babies should sleep on their backs, no blankets, and they should always sit in a rear-facing car seat. We don’t always get a message when babies might stop following these rules.
A quick guide from Parenting gives a quick rundown of some of the common milestones. Once your baby is able to roll over securely (about five months old), it’s okay if he chooses to sleep on his stomach. (However, you should still put them on your back.) Blankets and stuffed animals can be fine as early as six months old, although opinions vary, so you should probably check with your pediatrician to see what they recommend for your baby. And those rear-facing car seats? Use them for as long as possible – at least until the age of two. (Yes, they’ll have to bend their knees to fit. That’s okay.)
