Scientific Reasons Why Introverts and Extroverts Are Different

The difference between introverts and extroverts is not as important as we think . However, as this video explains, there are some scientific reasons why some are leaning towards one end of this spectrum or the other.

As explained in the video from the ASAP Science website, one key difference between the two camps is what is called “basic arousal.” Extroverted people tend to have lower energy levels in the beginning, which leads them to louder or more exciting events in order to feel satisfied. Whereas the more introverted person will get all the stimulation they need from a quiet walk in the park.

The video goes on to explain, as we mentioned earlier , that introversion and extraversion are not mutually exclusive. People can be in the middle of the spectrum (known as ambiverts), and neither of the extremes is a clear social flaw. Watch the video to learn more about the social and neurobiological aspects of this socialization spectrum.
