Rest of the Day: Microsoft Launches Premium Outlook.com Service
After testing the premium version of Outlook.com for almost a year, Microsoft is finally making it public. You can pay to remove ads and use custom domains; that’s all. About this and much more in today’s news.
- Outlook.com Premium is currently available in the US for $ 19.99 per year (special promotion; it will retail for $ 49.99 later). Microsoft will even register custom domains for you if you wish. It is technically still in the preview stage. [ZDNet]
- Yahoo has just added several new features to its Android email app that take advantage of the latest Nougat updates. You can now reply to emails right in your notifications, and there is also Android N multi-window support. [Android Police]
- Amazon has a new version of the Kindle Paperwhite specifically for the Japanese market. It’s identical to every other Paperwhite, but comes with 32GB of storage – a huge jump from the current 4GB model. This is because it was created for manga, and images, of course, require a lot more storage space than text. [The Verge]
- Instagram just added Stories to the Explore tab. I love stories. I like the Overview tab too; this is a crazy dream from an algorithm guessing what I want to see. In fact, Instagram may be the only remaining social network fun to use. [Instagram Blog]
- Sources say Apple will unveil the new Macs on October 27th. I bet there won’t be a single USB port in sight. [Recode]
