You Can Now Activate Your Raspberry Pi Based DIY Alexa With the Wake Word
Amazon has updated its Alexa sample code on GitHub with the addition of a new awakening word engine. This means that if you want to create your own Amazon Alexa with a Raspberry Pi, you can do so without pressing a button first.
The previous version of this project required you to press a button or on-screen prompt before you could ask Alexa a question. You can now do this with a wake-up word like “Alexa” just like the commercial version of Alexa. This makes the prospect of building your own Alexa much more rewarding. As before, you will need a Raspberry Pi (model 2 or 3 is recommended, although we saw the previous version worked on both the chip and the Zero ), a USB microphone, and a speaker. You will find everything you need to know on the Amazon GitHub page.
