Galaxy Note 7 Will Be Limited to 60% Charge in the US Very Soon

We’ve made it pretty clear that you should trade your Note 7 for something else, and according to Samsung, 85% of the Note 7 in the US has already been replaced. For everyone else, you’re about to get a limited-access battery.

Elsewhere, Samsung has released updates for the Note 7 that block battery charging above 60%. The goal is more to anger customers to bring them back than to fix the problem. Back in September, we encouraged users to donate their phones in case Samsung decides to do the same here in the US. An update for battery limiting should arrive in the next couple of days.

Of course, most Note 7 users have probably got theirs back by now. Anyone who hasn’t done this will probably need a pretty strong push, and that might be exactly what does it. If that doesn’t work, Samsung has tried to completely disable cellular coverage for the Note 7 in New Zealand . Hopefully it doesn’t come to that here, but the company is definitely not playing with this review.
