Build Your Own Raspberry Pi Powered Smart Speaker

Smart media center speakers and Bluetooth speakers are pretty common these days, but on Hackaday, user Carlo Maria Curinga made one of the cutest little speakers we’ve ever seen.

The hardware here includes a Raspberry Pi, DAC, amplifier, speaker, and a small LED matrix for visual feedback. On the software side, the speaker functions as an MPD and HTTP server, and it can pull audio from a number of online services like Spotify, YouTube and others. You can easily control music from your phone and transfer it to the speaker. All in all, this is a pretty nifty little system that is fairly easy to manipulate to suit whatever your needs are. You will find everything you need to make it for yourself on the Curinga website below.
