How Did You Manage During This Year’s Money Competition?
This is the completion of the first ever Lifehacker Ultimate Money Challenge . If you’ve joined us at any stage of this journey, we’d love to hear your feedback. If not, but you have some ideas for 2017, we’d love to hear from you too!
In 2016, we challenged you to reduce impulsive spending, sell unnecessary trash, bargain on bills, and even dramatically increase your retirement savings. You’ve shared your progress every month, and now we want to know how much you’ve saved in total (including this month’s Gift Yourself Challenge). Let’s summarize the twelve tasks:
January : no spending at the restaurant.
February : Bargain Bills
March : Limiting impulse flows
April : save for retirement
May : save money on interest
June : bargain about everything
July : update and save
August : save changes
September : Find a cheaper mobile data plan
October : preparing for holiday spending.
November : sell unnecessary items
December : gift yourself
Not all of these problems affected everyone, but chances are you could join at least a few. If so, please let us know how much you saved. In addition, we are launching another task for 2017. If you have any feedback – what worked and what didn’t work – post it below. If you have any suggestions for new challenges in 2017, we are also open to them!
