Best Bottles of Champagne and Sparkling Wine You Can Buy on a Budget

Celebrating the New Year with a bottle of champagne is always fun. Whether you are looking to bring champagne, prosecco, or sparkling wine to a party, you will find prices vary quite a bit. Here are the best bottles to buy if you’re on a budget.

Business Insider asked Alison Napews, Wine Spectator Senior Editor , for advice and guidance. Napus explained that sparkling wine is sold both vintage and non-vintage, and of course vintage bottles will be much more expensive.

Non-vintage wines are usually a blend of several different vintages, which the manufacturer makes each year as a specialty sparkling wine. Non-vintage bottles are usually not labeled as such – you can recognize them by the absence of the word “vintage” on the label.

Other terms that may indicate a higher price are blanc de blanc, blanc de noir and rosé wine.

Napus offered several recommendations for sparkling wines, including prosecco and real champagne from the French Champagne region. Here are a few of them:

  • Ca ‘Furlan Cuvée Beatrice Prosecco Extra Dry ($ 10): Wine Spectator describes this Italian Prosecco as “balanced and slightly juicy.”
  • Gloria Ferrer Blanc de Blancs Carneros ($ 22) : If you prefer a California sparkler, this wine has both a fresh and creamy flavor.
  • Ferrari Brut Trento ($ 26): Wine Spectator calls this sparkling wine “highly drinkable” with notes of “Asian pear, ground ginger, hazelnuts and lemon peel.”
  • Bérêche & Fils Brut Champagne Réserve ($ 46): This champagne is sour, with hints of blackberries, toast, licorice and mandarin zest.
