The Only Way to Play Super Mario Run Is on the Subway
Super Mario Run is finally available for iOS, and it’s really cool ! The problem is, you cannot play offline. If you are a commuter train and are hoping to find some coins on the subway, this is the only way to play a little.
The Always Online setting for Super Mario Run is designed to prevent piracy, so web use is mainly for “checking” on Nintendo’s servers. This means that once something is uploaded, it stays that way until the next registration. After playing around with pirate checks, this is the best standalone game I could think of:
- Select and download the World Tour level while above the ground and connected to your data network. You can complete the entire level even if you lose touch.
- Complete the level and try to achieve the best result, or better yet, focus on collecting colored coins.
- As soon as you get confused or realize that you will not get the coin you are trying to grab, pause the game and restart the level. As long as you stop before you reach the flag, you can keep restarting the level for as long as you like.
Once you finally hit the perfect score or get that hard-to-find coin, you can complete the level. You will receive an error code, but as soon as you return to the surface, the game will reconnect, perform a check, and give you the coins you earned. This method is by no means ideal, but it is the only possible way to play offline right now. So leave that special coin quest and secret quest for commuting and do whatever else, like a toad rally when you’re above ground.
