Dataplicity Makes Remote Control of Your Raspberry Pi Much Easier
Typically, if you want to control your Raspberry Pi from outside your network, you need to go through and configure your router to allow access from the internet, install some software on your Pi, set up an IP address, and cross your fingers you do it’s all reliable. Dataplicity makes this much easier.
Basically, Dataplicity provides command line access to your Pi from a web application. This way, as long as your Pi is connected to the Internet, you can access it from anywhere using the Dataplicity Remote Shell web app. Basically, Dataplicity does not have root access, but you can manually provide it if you like. There’s even a wormhole feature that lets you create temporary websites from the Pi, which is especially useful for projects that involve streaming video.
You can also easily reboot your Pi, which is helpful if you’re running any automation project that might need a little bump from time to time. This way you can access and manage multiple Pis, which can be useful if you have several of these in your home. If you’ve ever wanted to connect your Pi to the Internet in general, but were uncomfortable jumping through security hoops to do so, this is one way to do that’s easy to manage.
