Scheduling Every Weekend Makes It Less Enjoyable.

Planning a one-minute itinerary for the weekend may seem like a great way to get the most out of your weekend, but recent research shows that it actually makes everything you do less fun.

Research by Celine Malcock, assistant professor of marketing at Ohio State University, and published in the Journal of Marketing Research suggests that having a tight weekend schedule, even if filled with fun stuff, makes you feel overwhelmed. do you like this job. In 13 separate experiments, Malkock and her colleagues found that weekend itineraries make the most objectively enjoyable activities much less enjoyable for participants.

Basically, planning too much turns fun activities into work. Going out with friends suddenly becomes a must. Malkock believes that the best way to get the most out of the weekend is to make an unlimited plan for “someday Saturday” or more generally “someday this weekend,” and then consolidate those plans on the day of the event. This way, you will have something to count on, but you will not give up the feeling of freedom that makes you feel carefree.
