Ask for a Refund or Credit If Your Hotel Does Not Have Advertised Amenities
Arriving at your hotel just to find that the beautiful pool, relaxing spa, or well-equipped gym is out of action could ruin your vacation. But you don’t have to just deal with disappointment: the hotel can provide you with room credit or even an upgrade to make up for the lack of amenities – all you have to do is ask.
An indoor pool or gym may not matter much to you, but if you choose a hotel with these amenities in mind, or the perfect resort, they are the deciding factor. Whether you expected to be able to hang out in the pool with your kids or use the gym to keep up with your workouts , the lack of access to advertised amenities is frustrating. The hotel staff are unlikely to refund your entire stay, but they may compensate you for free breakfast, room upgrades, or other perks to smooth things over. Of course, ask for compensation politely to increase the likelihood that the staff will help you . Being a jerk probably won’t get you anywhere.
