This Cheap, DIY MagSafe-Like Connector Protects Loose Laptop Cables
With age, laptop power cables loosen at their connection points. They can slip out if you move the laptop slightly and you will need to readjust if you want to continue charging. YouTuber Kipkay has a simple and cheap DIY solution.
You will need a washer, a neodymium magnet, super glue, and hot glue. The magnet and washer will cost less than a dollar, and you probably already have glue. Just remember that the center of the washer must be large enough for the end of the power cable to pass through.
Glue the neodymium magnet to the laptop next to the power connector. Thread the cable through the washer and connect to the laptop. Bring the washer to the point of sticking to the magnet. Mark this point at the end of the cable.
We take out the cable and washer. Apply hot glue to the cable and glue the washer to it. That’s all. Now, when you plug the cable into your laptop, the magnet and washer will make a loud click and stay in place.
