Clean Brushes With Solvents Suitable for the Paint You Are Using
Cleaning up after painting isn’t always as easy as wetting your brush and ending the day. Tested uses different cleaning methods with different cleaning agents after using different paints.
Depending on the type of paint you are using, the cleaning process is completely different. Here’s what Tested recommends:
- Water and Soap : Will work with almost any water-borne paint.
- Parian Spirit : Suitable for makeup brushes, glue, body paint.
- Naphtha based thinner : good for removing rubber cement paint.
- Solution : Takes away everything else as a last resort
Aside from choosing the right solvent, it’s also good to make sure you don’t soak your brushes for too long, as this can ruin the glue holding the bristles together. So, after you clean, make sure you leave the brushes on the table and not inside the cup you cleaned in.
