You Can Customize the Background of Your Chromecast Using More Than Stock Photos
The standard photos that come with your Chromecast are pretty and all, but if you want to change something, you can customize it a little more to your liking. All you need is the Google Home app.
As How-To Geek explains, it’s as simple as connecting your Chromecast device to Google Home. It used to be a Chromecast app, free for Android and iOS . Once your device is connected to the app, you should see the Device Management options menu in the top right corner. Tap it and you will see the option “Personalize your device and more.” After you select this, you will be taken to the Splash screen where you can play with your options.
How-To Geek launches several apps that you can connect with to personalize your Chromecast:
Google Photos : Lets you select custom albums from your Google Photos collections and display them as part of the Screensaver. You can create new albums at photos.google.com – just click the Create link at the very top and select Albums.
Facebook : As with Google Photos, you can allow Chromecast access to your Facebook photos – you can choose which folders to display.
Play Newsstand : If you’re using the Google Newsstand app, this is a really cool feature. It usually displays news headlines from your personal newsstand feed on your TV.
You can also select Curated News and Google will update the background with news that matches your interests. You can also customize the background on AndroidTV, although you won’t have many options available. For more details and step-by-step screenshots, navigate to the How-To Geek post at the link below.
