Google Voice Gets Group Texts, MMS and a New Look After Years of Stagnation
Congratulations to Google Voice supporters. Your time has finally come. After years of languishing in the bud, Google has finally revamped its phone service, adding a new look and some new features for Android, iOS, and web clients.
The biggest update is the design. The new Google Voice looks modern, sleek, and consistent across all of its apps. The inbox now has tabs for texts, calls and voicemail. Voice communication also now supports group messaging and MMS for all carriers. Finally. You can also reply to messages from a notification. If you are using Google Voice in the Hangouts app, you can continue to use the app as well.
Google says it plans to update Voice from now on. This promise is hard to take at face value for those of us who lost hope years ago . Still, it’s nice that the loyal people have finally been rewarded and hopefully this time Google sticks to its plan. Updates are rolling out now and should be available to all users “in the coming weeks.”
