This Drawer Under the Stove May Not Actually Be Suitable for Storage.
Do you know the drawer at the bottom of the oven? The one with all your trays? It turns out that this drawer is not for storage, but for keeping hot food hot while you cook dinner.
Maybe you already knew this, but for me this is new information, and it blows me up. Keep in mind that the drawer is only for keeping pre-cooked food warm, not for preparing cold food. According to Real Simple, you can see a small sticker with a security message:
A drawer for warming up is designed to maintain the temperature of hot dishes on the serving. Always start with a hot meal. Cold food or food at room temperature should not be heated, reheated or cooked in the warming drawer. Bacteria multiply very quickly in foods that have temperatures between 40 and 140 degrees Fahrenheit.
Of course, no one says you can’t store pans there, but it’s nice to know that you have a warming drawer at your disposal.
Update: As some of you have pointed out, this does not apply to all ovens, so be sure to check your manual to be sure, or Google the model number to find the manual online and check.
