Start Your Day With the Rule of Three to Actively Work Towards Your Goals.

Every day, your work is interrupted by emails, phone calls, and conversations with your boss. To be focused rather than reactive, start your day by solving three things you want to do every day.

As the Art of Masculinity advice site explains, at the start of each day, you have time before all the distractions rush over to you. Using this time to decide what you want to accomplish for the day can set your course. Then, when someone interrupts your work, you can treat it as a distraction instead of ruining your entire day for someone else’s purpose:

The best way to get closer to your productivity is to ask a simple question at the end of each day: “Did I do what I set out to do?” Or, as Bailey put it, “Productivity isn’t about doing more, it’s about doing the right thing.”

There are always many good things to cross off your to-do list, but to be more productive, you need to do the best first. What has the greatest impact and ROI to bring you closer to your goals.

Of course, there are times when you need to divert attention to something worthwhile. However, most of your daily breaks do not fall into this category. Decide what is important before someone steals your time, and it will be easier for you to understand when something should really take priority.
