Chase Goes to Cut the Sign up Bonus on Its Reserve Sapphire Card

World travel hacking went mad when Chase released a map of Sapphire Reserve, which, among other useful travel benefits, giving a huge bonus for signing up at a rate of 100000. If you have thought about how to jump on the bandwagon , you may want to jump in the near future time, because the bonus will soon be halved.

Chase’s card currently has a 100,000 signup bonus for customers who spend at least $ 4,000 on it within three months of opening. This bonus is around $ 1,000 in cash and $ 1,500 in travel deals – pretty incredible. ( Warning : Obviously, you should always pay your credit card in full and on time, and in any case only spend it on what you intended to buy. The bonuses aren’t worth it if you accumulate $ 4,000 in credit card debt.)

This is a great deal and the Reserve still has some cool perks, but they are going to cut that bonus in half on January 12th. This will be the last day that you can subscribe to it online and still earn 100,000 points. If you apply at a bank branch, the deadline will last until March 12th. After these dates, the bonus will be 50,000. Chase first confirmed the news to The Points Guy, who reported:

Sapphire Reserve was such a hit that Chase quickly ran out of metal used to create each card … and Reserve was partially responsible for the 35% increase in new Chase card accounts in Q3 2016. Instead of launching a card As part of a traditional ad campaign, Chase decided to offer a huge signup bonus, allowing the issuer to use their marketing budget to directly incentivize consumers, which in turn generated a huge word of mouth buzz. Of course, all these new clients were still very expensive, which partly affected the bank’s net profit of $ 200 million.

The updated bonus is still not bad, and keep in mind the Reserve still offers $ 300 travel credit (which helps pay off its crazy $ 450 annual fee), entry or pre-check credit, and free lounge access waiting at the airport. Follow the link below for more details on the update.
