Save the Watery Skillet Sauce With Butter and Cornstarch
Thin watery sauces are just plain unattractive, but not quite the disaster they seem. It only takes butter, cornstarch, and time to thicken like a sad sauce.
The video above will walk you through the cooking steps, but you can make your skillet sauce from nauseous to silky in just three steps. First, keep cooking and boil as much water as possible. Then add two to three tablespoons of butter and stir until melted. Finally, add the cornstarch slurry (equal parts cornstarch and liquid such as water, milk, or broth). Stir everything together and watch your sauce thicken before your very eyes.
