Yoga Program for People Who Exercise on Their Feet
Whether you work as a waiter, hairdresser, salesperson, salesperson, or any other job that requires you to be on your feet all day, you know how tired your feet and leg muscles can get in just one shift. Try this yoga regimen to stretch and help your muscles recover at the end of the day.
15 minutes is all it takes to complete this routine, and once you’re done, you’ll feel refreshed for your next shift, or better yet, for your real life outside of work. Here are the areas this routine focuses on.
- Joints : In a standing and sitting position, stretch the wrists , ankles and hips. Basically, gently bend your wrists or ankles backward to stretch in the opposite direction they would normally be.
- Back : Lengthen the spine withforward bends and shoulder stretches to open up your upper back. These two positions use your body weight to slowly stretch your upper back and shoulders. For forward bends, bend your knees and spread your feet shoulder-width apart, lean forward and grab your elbows. Gently move your head back and forth, then slowly move your arms and torso back and forth to stretch your upper back and shoulders.
- Legs : Stretch your hamstrings and leg muscles, placing your feet a little more than your shoulders, straighten your legs if you can. Place your hands on your waist and slowly lean forward. Move slowly so as not to lose your balance. Once you bend 90 degrees, place your fingertips on the ground, palms if you can, bend and unbend your elbows to stretch more and less. Bring your arms back between your legs to stretch them. Return your arms to your waist and slowly rise to a standing position.
- Neck : The neck pivots and tilts forward so that the neck muscles move in a different direction.
The exercise is designed to be rewarding and short, but if you are especially tired, your legs hurt, or maybe your joints really bother you, just add a few repetitions of the above exercises to work this part up a bit. To learn more about the routine, watch the video above.
