The Lifehacker Money Challenge Is Back!

Welcome to the second annual Lifehacker Ultimate Money Challenge. After reviewing your feedback, we’ve decided to challenge you once again throughout the year by setting a new financial goal every month. This month? 30 days savings.

This is a lot like a 52 week assignment , except we’ve reduced it to a month. You will start with $ 1 and save $ 1 more every day. Put a dollar in your savings account today. Save two dollars tomorrow, save another dollar the next day, and so on until February 1st.

You should have saved $ 456 by the end of the month. It’s not nearly as much as you would save on a 52-week trial, but not bad either. We understand that this is a lot of money for some , but the idea is to achieve this goal as best as possible. Plus it’s a challenge – it doesn’t have to be easy. However, if this seems completely impossible, feel free to come up with your own number and save accordingly. You can turn this into a 15-day trial and save $ 120, for example.

Many of you liked the idea of a monthly money competition, but didn’t make it last year. The good news is that we will be tackling many of the same challenges this year . However, there will be some new challenges and some variations on the old ones. So if you joined last year, you can join again. And if you haven’t, now is your chance to step in and take advantage of the responsibility.

Who is there in January? Let us know and then be sure to come back here within a month. We’ll have blog posts to help you along the way, and we’ll also remind you to stick with them.
