The Best Workouts for Your First Day After the Break

Are you going to play sports more often today? Or are you just going back to what you were doing before the holiday parties ruined your schedule? Anyway, it’s time to get started. We’ve selected six workouts that are perfect for your first (or second) day after your workout.

Remember, the golden rule of getting back to work is to take your time . Treat yourself like a newbie, and before you know it, you’ll be back to your old routine without unnecessary pain or difficulty.

You probably know which exercise you want to do, so just pick the one that works for you:

  • Bodyweight Exercise : Complete this 15-minute workout from Darby that requires no equipment. Too short? Throw in this super easy workout to give yourself more time while making it easier for yourself on your first day.
  • Free Weights : Try this Barbell Workout from Men’s Fitness . It’s just deadlifts, squats, pull-ups, and overhead presses. Walk lighter than usual as this is your first day and you don’t want to be in pain enough to derail your next workout.
  • Trainers : This beginner workout from Bodybuilding.com uses nothing but trainers and is a great way to make your gym workout easier. Go ahead and do more sets if it seems too easy for you, but again, make a lighter mistake on the first day after training.
  • Running, cycling or elliptical trainer . The progressive run that we did during the Turkish Lynx run competition is perfect for moving on to a new challenge. All you do is two miles easy and the last mile faster. Feel guided when deciding how difficult it is to push, and again err in an easier direction. If you are riding an elliptical trainer or stationary bike, consider it 20 minutes easy and 10 minutes more difficult.
  • Cardio Dance : Tracy Anderson’sCardio Dancefor Beginners will get you moving and sweating without expecting to master any super-difficult moves.
  • Yoga : Thisyoga essentials workout with Kino McGregor is designed for beginners, so it’s a great way to start or re-start your yoga practice. This is a short video, only 12 minutes long, so if you want more add the 17 minuteYoga for Better Energy with Jason Crandall .

There are many other great options out there, but if you haven’t picked one yet, take the one that works best for you from this list and just go for it. Remember which workout you choose isn’t nearly as important as whether you keep your promise to yourself to workout.
