A Video Guide to Help You Find the Perfect Shirt for Your Figure Every Time
You can buy the most expensive and prettiest dress shirt from the store, but if it doesn’t fit, it doesn’t look right. This video shows you how to shop for dress shirts that will always look great on you.
The ideal fit, of course, should be neither too tight nor too loose, and the shirt tapers perfectly from the chest down to conform to the shape of your body. The video points out more specific things to consider when trying on classic shirts in a store, for example:
- Collar: A collar helps frame your face, so you want one that doesn’t look like it’s choking you. A collar that is too loose means you can fit four fingers or so in the space between your neck and shirt collar.
- Shoulder Width: If the shoulder is too high, the shirt is too tight. If the shoulder hangs too low, the shirt is too big.
- Torso: If the buttons are about to pop out, you (and everyone else) will notice that your shirt is probably a little tight. If the sides of the shirt stick out after tucking it into your pants, you might want to try a size smaller or just a different brand for a better fit.
- Sleeve Fit : The good fit of the sleeves does not restrict hand movement and has one to two inches of loose fabric.
- Shirt cuff: A properly fitted shirt cuff will prevent you from pulling out your hand without having to open it first. This will change if you wear the watch.
