The Google Maps Update Adds a Bottom Bar With Information About Public Transportation, Nearby Places, and More.
Android: Google is making small changes to Google Maps today, adding a new bottom navigation bar. Here you can find restaurant recommendations, travel time home and information on public transportation.
The new navigation bar replaces the old bar at the bottom of the main Maps screen, allowing you to explore your surroundings. You can click any of the three icons at the bottom to move the useful information drawer up.
The first Places tab shows nearby points of interest, such as restaurants, ATMs, or grocery stores. The second Driving tab has a quick shortcut to home or work if you’ve entered that address. You can also find information on traffic conditions nearby. The last tab, public transport, will also show you information about public transport and directions on how to get home by bus or train. Overall, the update is small, but it should make it easier to find the things you really want in Maps.
