Turn Old Compacts Into a Stylish DIY Wall Mirror

Compact use of makeup isn’t the only way to get the most out of it. If you have multiple compacts that are dying, turn them into a wall mirror with your own hands rather than throwing them in the trash can.

Whether you have an overflowing makeup drawer with nearly empty CDs, or getting rid of makeup that is no longer in the top spot, this wall mirror is an easy way to reuse compact mirrors. Of course, the more CDs you have, the more flexibility you have in designing your wall mirror. You will need pliers, a hot glue gun, and plywood. Take a piece of plywood large enough to be used as a base for a mirror.

Use pliers to cut the mirror off the bottom of the compact, you may want to wear safety glasses in case any tiny pieces fly off. Attach a nail or other means of hanging the finished mirror to the back of the plywood. Spray paint on the plywood in any color, or leave it as is for a rustic look. You can also spray paint the compacts to keep them uniform in color, but make sure you cover the mirror portion first. Mark a spot on the plywood for each mirror. Glue the mirrors and let them dry overnight. If you have compact mirrors that vary in size or shape, you can still complete this project, it just has a more abstract look.
