Your Public Dropbox Folder Is No Longer Public

If you’ve been using Dropbox for a long time, you might have noticed that your Dropbox folder changed slightly yesterday. This is because the shared folder is no longer public.

For any Dropbox accounts created after October 4, 2012, there is no longer the Public folder, which was once called the repository of all the strange things you regularly share with people or cranks, disposable websites. If you’re an old-school Dropbox user with an account older than October 4, 2012, the folder will remain public, but unfortunately, you will no longer be able to display HTML content.

For everyone else, the contents of your public folder are now private, and if someone visits that public folder url, they’ll just get an error page. Of course, you can still share folders and links , but the one-link universal Public folder is gone forever.
