This Map Shows Which States Protect LGBT People From Discrimination
If this were a just world, the entire map above would be colored purple. But only 19 states and the District of Columbia prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. The other three only advocate sexual orientation. Others have no statewide protection at all, although cities in some of these states amend local laws.
Map courtesy of Reuters, and if you hover over each state, you can see a short explanation. Much of the data comes from the Movement Development Project , which monitors state and local laws that affect LGBT people.
