The Best DIY Pet Toys You Can Make From the Things You Have in Your Home
Pet toys can make your dog or cat happier, more intelligent, and more fun to socialize. Buying toys is fine, but it can build up and sometimes your pet may not like a new toy. Making your own from the items you already own at home saves costs and gives your pet an endless supply of fun things to play with.
Making these homemade toys won’t take you too long, especially if you’ve set aside a weekend morning to get them out and then let your pet go crazy.
Dogs
- Braided Rope : Turn an old t-shirt or two into braided rope that you and your dog can play tug of war with or bring.
- Tennis Ball Treats : Make a slot in the tennis ball, insert a couple of treats, and give your dog how to get them.
- Water bottle in sock : Place an empty water bottle in the sock and tie the top. If rustles annoy you, don’t create it!
- Empty Milk or Juice Jug : You need to throw it away if your dog is chewing it into pieces. Monitor them to make sure they haven’t eaten a single bite.
- Knotted fabric : Any heavy fabric, such as denim or a towel, cut into a large strip and tied in a knot to create a chewy toy that can also be used for fetching.
- Crib can not be stapled : Well, it’s not a toy, but it will be a great place for your puppy to rest after the game.
Cats
- Cloth on a string: Soft cloth (or feathers, if you have one) tied to a string.
- Puzzle Feeders: Punch a hole in the plastic container, place a couple of treats inside, and leave the cat to try to pull them out.
- Cardboard Roll : Honestly, it’s good as it is. Your cat will love it.
- Scratch : Cut a piece of cardboard three to four inches wide. Roll the first strip tightly to form a cylinder. Tape the end with tape and wrap another strip around the first, continue until your stump is as large as you want. Spread it out evenly and sprinkle with catnip on the cardboard.
- Ramps : Install ramps (made of scraps of wood, heavy cardboard, or plastic tub covers) to give your cat a bird’s eye view of your home.
- Cat tent : A cozy place for your kitten to take a nap after playing. You just need a T-shirt, two wire hangers, and some cardboard.
If your pet is eating something that it shouldn’t, be careful when it plays with its new toys. If you’ve made one of these toys before, or have another toy your pet loves, share it in the discussion below.
