Starbucks Sells Coffee Ice Cubes, but You Can Make Your Own for Much Less.
Adding iced coffee cubes to iced coffee instead of boring water isn’t exactly a new coffee trick, but Starbucks decided to take advantage of the frozen update , and they’re selling it for just under a dollar.
While some refer to coffee cubes as an ominous addition that “ upsets the necessary balance of water and coffee for good-tasting cold drinks ,” many people prefer the extra boost that the caffeinated ice crystals provide to the beverage.
Most coffee ice cubes are made by freezing regular coffee in ice cube trays. Then, when added to coffee, they dilute your icy beverage with more coffee , not water. It’s a fairly straightforward concept that doesn’t require significant improvements, but there are ways to cheer them up:
- Use a stronger coffee: Instead of filling trays with cold drip coffee, try cold coffee, espresso, or, if you want that sweet energy molecule you’ve ever had before, cold coffee concentrate.
- Sweeten the deal: If you like a sweeter beer, add some plain syrup, or heck, chocolate syrup to the mix.
- Add Cream: If you’re worried that your coffee-to-dairy ratio is deteriorating with all that watered-down coffee, you can add some cream (or almond milk) to each small cube to keep your drink good. to the last drop.
You can also just drink faster, but it’s nice to have options.
