This Browser Extension Tracks Amazon Price Drops

Chrome: I hate coupons but love to save money, so I’m a fan of Honey , a browser extension that automatically finds and applies coupon codes at checkout. What’s more, they just released an update that allows you to track the drop in Amazon prices.

At the moment, the update only works on desktops and with Chrome extension 9.9.4 and above. (The extension itself works with Safari, Firefox, and Opera.) Hopefully they’ll release an update to everyone soon because it’s pretty cool. A little honey icon will appear on any Amazon product page that asks you if you would like to add an item to your DropList (see image above). Just click this button and Honey will now track the item for you for a specified period of time and notify you as soon as its price drops so you can buy when the price is low.

The default tracking period is thirty days, but they will email you in advance if you want to continue browsing. You really need to register for a Honey account and then if you want to access their DropList you can go to their website , login, and then go to DropList. It works the same way as other price tracking tools (like CamelCamelCamel ), but I love that Honey now serves a double purpose: I use it to automate coupons anyway, so it’s another feature that always makes sure I I will get the best offer.

Not everyone is so lucky with Honey – some of you tried it just to let you know that it never found coupons for you – but I’ve made some pretty big savings with it. It works best with larger retailers who probably have coupon codes in the first place. If you’ve given it up, this update might be a good reason to try again (but, again, other price tracking tools will do the job, too).

If you are already using the extension, you will see the new feature the next time you visit Amazon. If you are not a Honey user, you can register using the link below and then download the extension for your browser. The app is available for desktop versions of Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Opera.
