How to Convert Used Electronics Into Cash

Do you have an old, but working computer that is gathering dust in your closet? The iPhone 6 that you no longer use? You know it’s time to let them go, but getting rid of old electronics can be tricky. Throwing them away is irresponsible , and giving them away can be difficult to swallow, even after years have passed since you shell out money for them.

Fortunately, there are several websites and retail stores that are more than happy to pay you for these once-valuable items.

Best buy

On the Best Buy exchange program, you are asked to complete a questionnaire to estimate the value of an item.

To get a quote, you just need to select a product category, manufacturer, model and condition. For example, an unlocked 16GB iPhone 6 in good condition could be exchanged for $ 104.

The only problem with Best Buy is that if you accept the offer they make to you, that money will be blocked on the Best Buy gift card – you have no choice but to buy additional electronics. (But aren’t we always willing to buy more electronics?) If you’re trying to pay rent with this money, this is probably not the best option.

The Best Buy exchange program is convenient: you can simply drop off your old appliances at any local store that accepts an exchange, or you can ship with a prepaid label. Payment completion time is usually about 10 business days.

Nextworth (or Target)

Nextworth offers you three payment options: check, PayPal, or Target Gift Card.

It takes a little longer to get a quote with Nextworth than with Best Buy, as the survey is more thorough. Here, an unlocked 16GB iPhone 6 costs $ 90.

Nextworth works closely with Target, so you can simply drop off your electronics at your local store to exchange them for a gift card. Or you can send it to Nextworth and ask for a check instead.

If you choose to ship your device, it may take up to 10 business days for payment to be received after we ship. But listen, at least with Nextworth, you get real money for your stuff.

Gazelle (or Walmart)

Gazelle is very similar to Nextworth, except that it works with Walmart and seems to pay more. Gazelle also offers a variety of payment methods: you can get a PayPal deposit, check or Amazon gift card.

Like all other sites, Gazelle asks you to provide a brief description of your device in order to get a rating. For an unlocked 16GB iPhone 6, Gazelle offers about $ 120.

You can send your electronics to Gazelle or return them to the ecoATM kiosk for cash. All kiosks are located in Walmarts. If you submit it, you will receive your payment within seven business days.

Amazon

Of all the sites listed here, Amazon may be the best – it offers you more for your gadgets, pays you with Amazon gift cards, and has the fastest payment processing times.

To get a quote on your device, you need to fill out a form similar to Best Buy. You will need to select a category, model and condition in order to obtain an estimated transaction value. You can get up to $ 125 for an unlocked 16GB iPhone 6.

If you choose to accept the offer, you will receive payment with an Amazon Gift Card. Amazon first has to make sure your item matches the description, which makes sense. If all goes well, Amazon will provide you with maximum value.

The refund period is approximately two business days after the online store receives your device, which is by far the fastest. Shipping is paid by Amazon.

Craigslist or Facebook

If you don’t like any of the options above, you can always sell your devices the old fashioned way: through Craigslist. Sometimes what companies offer you for your gadgets just isn’t enough, so you might want to try selling your devices yourself. On Craigslist, you can set your price and track how many people are bidding. Hey, who knows – maybe you can get a better deal.

You can also sell items in the new “For Sale” Facebook Groups, which are very similar to Craigslist. You just need to upload a picture of your device, set a price for it, add your contact information and wait for people to start asking.
