Mason Jar Is the Only Tool You Need for Perfectly Emulsified Dressings
I put a lot of unnecessary items on my wedding registry, including a set of bright green margarita glasses, but most unnecessary was this odd salad dressing bottle that had a small handle that you could squeeze to stir and emulsify the dressing. I honestly don’t know how he got there, but I guess it has something to do with that damn recorder pistol, and how powerful I felt it in my sweaty hand.
Anyway. Emulstir 2.0 – that’s its real name – didn’t work that well and eventually broke. This is ok because there is a much better and cheaper tool for emulsifying salad dressings and that is a damn mason jar. Not only do you probably already have it, but when you mix the ingredients of the dressing, they turn into an emulsion, which is impossible even with the most vigorous whipping.
You simply pour your favorite vinaigrette ingredients into a jar, close it, and shake until you have a smooth mixture. Then you pour it over your salad. Then eat your salad. Oh no, have you changed? It’s good that it’s already in a resealable container. Just put it in the refrigerator until you make another salad coming soon because you are taking very good care of yourself. The can travels pretty well too, which is great if you need to grab a salad dressing somewhere. My point is, don’t add Emulstir 2.0 to your wedding registry; just buy a mason jar.
