The Room of Rage Is the Quest of Our Generation
Centuries ago, from 2007 to 2016, the main attraction was the Escape Room , a kind of real-life Myst game in which you solve puzzles to get out of a dungeon, library or steampunk lab. But now is 2017, and this is not the time for mind games. It’s time for unbridled rage. It’s time for the room of rage.
In the room of rage, you pay to smash electronics, furniture, mannequins, and the room itself. “Although these rooms have been around since at least 2008, they’ve been active lately,” says Penelope Green of the New York Times , who visited the Manhattan Wrecking Club to watch TV and sit with a baseball bat .
Sessions in various rooms of rage start at $ 20- $ 70 and can last anywhere from 5 to 45 minutes. There are menus full of extras like mannequins dressed as Clinton or Trump. The Dallas Rage Room that The Times wrote about last fall might even create a copy of your office for you to demolish.
The physical release of anger may not reduce stress, and, if associated with strenuous exercise, may increase the risk of heart attack . But given the current unstable state of the world, perhaps anger is exactly what you need.
