Put the Glow Stick in the BBQ Bucket for Your Child’s Night
It’s hard to have a sick child. Having a sick child who is vomiting is hard and unpleasant. Having a sick child who vomits up in the dark of the night is hard, chaotic, and scary.
To increase the chances of poor Harper successfully aiming at the bucket when the light is off and has 1.8 seconds to find it, place a glow stick inside. Reddit user CantHelpHelping shared a story of his three children getting sick at the same time.
“Since they are all under five years old, the use of the bucket was accidental … mostly a mistake,” wrote a Reddit editor. “… My children do not like the night light – they complain that it is too bright. I wanted them to be able to get a bucket just in case. So I decided to put a glow stick in the bucket for them to have something to help them find the bucket – plus they loved the idea and thought it was special / cool. ”
Other parents gave tips on how to make the bucket even more efficient:
- Add some water to the bucket to reduce odor and make it easier to drain.
- Line the bucket with two bags – a paper bag (which remains structurally open) inside a plastic bag.
- Tie a string to the glow stick and let it hang outside the bucket.
