This Is Why You Should Use Multi-Account Web Browsing
Firefox users who switch between work and personal accounts on a daily basis are probably tired of logging in and out or switching between accounts. Thanks to Mozilla’s new (and outdated) Multi-Account Container extension , you don’t have to worry about remembering which account you’re signed in to. If you’re not worried about separating work and personal accounts, you can still take advantage of viewing multiple accounts to maintain your privacy or kick out bad habits.
The Mozilla Multi-Account Container Extension is an add-on for the Firefox web browser. It works by separating browsing sessions and browser cookies by placing them on their own “Container” tabs that act independently of each other, even if they are in the same web browser window. You can customize your Container with a name, color and icon for easier identification. Browsing the web with multiple accounts is ideal for separating different aspects of your life (like personal and professional email or social media accounts), making it pretty easy to switch between them.
But let’s say you have no problem separating work and personal accounts. You can still take advantage of the multi-account view feature, especially if you are an avid social media user or online shopper.
Creating a Container tab for online shopping is useful if you want to be more mindful of your spending habits. You can have one Purchase container that stores your credit card or banking information, stores your Amazon account information, and that information is automatically populated away from the rest of your browsing when you switch containers.
Containers are also useful for browsing the web without distributing identifiable information. For example, keeping your social media accounts in the same container while browsing in the Research container can prevent sites from tracking your online activity and associating it with your specific social media accounts.
Google Chrome already has built-in support for viewing multiple accounts, so the add-on is long overdue for Firefox users. Luckily, you don’t need to update your web browser to use the extension, just add it here .
