How to Simulate Piano Playing: Lesson 5
Welcome to the latest installment of our series of videos on how to learn to play the piano without getting bored. Previously, composer and pianist Jason Oberholzer has taught you octaves and fifths , notes , chords and keys , and creating your own music . Today he will show you how to explore almost any music on the piano.
This lesson was difficult for me – I just learned how to grab my hands to five minutes earlier – so Jason took responsibility and showed what can be achieved by spending a few hours. He also explains how all the building blocks we’ve learned form the basis of the most popular music.
Although it was a huge challenge to learn all of this in one day, I got away with something that regular piano lessons could not give me: the feeling that I can create beautiful sounds on the piano. I can’t name notes other than C and I can’t read notes, but I can understand the ideas behind what my hands do, and for the first time in years I’m glad to learn more.
This concludes the collection How to Simulate Playing the Piano. Watch the entire episode here , then go out and explore on your own. Now I need to find a new hobby to pretend.
