How to Use Google Assistant on Your New Pixelbook
Google’s expensive new Pixelbook is loaded with impressive features, from 10 hours of battery life to a sleek aluminum frame, but its biggest benefit may be quick and easy access to Google Assistant . The AI software is built right into the new device, with three different ways to launch it depending on how you use your hybrid convertible laptop-tablet.
Enter your queries in laptop mode
You can access Google Assistant with a quick voice command, but you may not always be in a situation where you can speak fluently, such as working in a coffee shop or taking notes at a college lecture.
Instead, just reach for the Google Assistant button built into your keyboard. It will launch a chat window where you can enter questions and commands without disturbing the people around you or even showing that you are talking to the robot assistant.
Draw your questions in tablet mode
If you’re using the Pixelbook as a tablet (and you’ve shell out an extra $ 99 for Google’s fancy new stylus), you can access Google Assistant without words at all. Instead, just press the built-in Pixelbook Pen button and then draw a circle around something on the screen.
Google Assistant gets to work quickly by analyzing everything you’ve circled. If it’s a photo of a celebrity, you’ll see a quick profile with relevant links like their YouTube account or Instagram page. Circle a word for an instant definition, along with a few links for more information.
Speakerphone in stand mode
Sometimes voice commands are still the best option, for example if you are lying and watching a movie with the Pixelbook set to standby. In this case, just say “Ok Google” to start the AI. From there, you can use Google Assistant to text a friend, set a reminder, or turn on another video without lifting your finger.
