“Tuesday Trip” Is Real and Impressive
Under normal circumstances, Tuesday is not the day to buy the wonderfully cheap tickets that Travel Blog Wisdom has long caught on. But today is not just Tuesday. This is Travel Deal Tuesday, the post-Cyber Monday period in which airlines typically offer significant deals and discounts based on the quantities received on the Hopper travel app.
We’ve reported on the Travel Tuesday phenomenon over the weekend, but consider it a sequel with the strongest personal support: I’ve shopped on specials and oh god, they’re there. Specifically, yesterday and today I was looking for spring round-trip flights from New York to Seattle. When booking with miles (yes, I drank Chase Sapphire Reserve Kool Aid), the option I found today was about 10,000 points less (or $ 150 less) than the options that were available yesterday. I booked a flight between $ 400 and $ 600 for just $ 246 (or about 16,000 points) through Jet Blue. This is the cheapest flight I have found on this route in the last ten years. In other words: if you have an upcoming trip and you know you need to book your ticket, do it now. It will probably be very worth it.
