How to Avoid Getting the Flu This Season
We will not sugarcoat this; it is entirely possible that you will do absolutely everything right this winter and still end up with a terrible case of the flu.
However, there is still a lot to be done to avoid becoming one of the 35 million people who get the flu every year, starting with the all-important flu shot. ( If you haven’t got yours yet, what are you waiting for? )
The CDC recommends getting the flu shot for everyone over six months of age, partly to protect themselves and partly to avoid spreading the disease to more vulnerable populations, such as infants, the sick, or the elderly.
And since the vaccine only prevents certain strains of the flu, you’ll have to double down on reasonable health precautions, including getting enough sleep, water, and exercise, and washing your hands for at least 20 seconds each time.
