What Will Make You Actually Go to the Movies?

People go to the movies less and less. Revenues are rising, but attendance is falling and cinemas are struggling. According to Variety magazine , the summer 2017 box office was the worst in the industry in terms of ticket sales in a decade, with sales down 14.6% from the summer of 2016.

You can guess many factors: Netflix, Amazon and premium cable channels all produce high quality movies that are “free” and don’t require you to leave your home. Ticket and popcorn prices continue to rise. And you can only watch so many stories of Spider-Man’s origins before you are revealed.

Bloomberg researched what theaters are doing to win customers back and found they are investing in luxury seating and more food and drink options. AMC said it could start selling film-related merchandise.

That’s all well and good, but for me the most important factor is not wanting to pay $ 17 for one ticket in New York (I recently got MoviePass , which is great, although I’m not sure how long the deal might last) and suggesting something different. except for superhero / comic stories. Give me some more romcoms. Give me kid-free views (sorry parents, I don’t want to hear your 6-year-old kid ask what strength is during The Last Jedi ).

And you? Do you want more seats or cheaper tickets? Something other?
