How to Watch YouTube on Fire TV After Google Removes the YouTube App
Amazon and Google have been battling this over the past few months , and it doesn’t look like the two companies will come to an agreement anytime soon. Earlier this month, Google announced plans to remove its YouTube app from Amazon Fire TV streaming devices along with the Echo Show starting January 1st. Fortunately, a solution is just around the corner.
On Wednesday, Mozilla unveiled a new Firefox for Fire TV browser app with support for YouTube videos. The app allows you to easily browse the web on your TV, search for videos, and go directly to any website by entering a URL. It even includes a shortcut to YouTube right from the Firefox home screen, so you only have to click once more than in the official YouTube app.
You can download and install Firefox directly from your Fire TV by selecting the search icon in the upper right corner of your home screen and searching for “Firefox”, or simply holding the microphone button on your Fire TV remote and saying “Firefox.” Then select Firefox for Fire TV from the list of results and click Get to install it.
You can also download the app from Amazon.com. Just click on the drop-down menu next to the search bar and select Apps & Games. Search for “Firefox” and select a new application. Then, make sure the “Deliver to” line on the right side of the page is directed to your Fire TV device before clicking “Get” to install it.
After installing the Firefox app, all you have to do is open it and click the YouTube icon. You will instantly watch music videos, video game streams and old Vine compilations.
