Make the Kids Celebrate the New Year at 8 P.m. With the Netflix Countdown

This is the big problem for parents on December 31st: the ball falls at midnight, but your child needs to go to bed by 8:30. What are you doing? Thanks to technology and children’s understanding of time, you can turn on a fake countdown.

For the fourth year in a row, Netflix is bringing back the On-Demand New Years Eve Countdown so kids can celebrate the most exciting 10 seconds of the year and then go to bed so their parents can start the real party (or, as you know, sleep too).

On New Years Eve (or anytime between December 26th and January 31st), search for “Countdown to New Years” or “Countdown” and you’ll find a kids’ row with nine different short videos. This year’s list includes:

  • Truth and the rainbow kingdom
  • Larva
  • Pororo
  • Defeat mistakes
  • Word Party
  • Dead End Rock
  • Skylanders academy
  • Glory to King Julien
  • Troll hunters
