Bring Back Notifications You’ve Already Dismissed Using the Android App
Most of the time, when a notification pops up on my phone , I can decide in a split second if I need to deal with it immediately. But every now and then I make the wrong call, removing an important warning that forces me to dig into Gmail or Twitter to type in what should have been a quick response.
Android already has a built-in notification log , but accessing it is too complex to be convenient for day-to-day use. Fortunately, there is a simpler alternative, Unnotification , a free app recently offered to me by Android Police .
The idea behind Unnotification is simple. Every time you close a notification on Android, you get a second alert asking if you want to undo this action. It also allows you to blacklist other applications so you don’t get bombarded with Unnotification messages.
If that’s still too much, an app update has added the ability to completely remove these Unnotifications. Instead, you can open the Android quick settings menu and find the cancel button for the last rejected notification.
The only catch is that Unnotification cannot remember the original notification. Instead, it creates a baseline copy with the information you rejected. So you can’t directly interact with the new notification, but it will tell you which app it was from and relay the message.
The opt-out notification is also limited to devices running Android 8.0 Oreo or later, which means you probably won’t be able to use it if you have an older phone. But if you’ve done so, you can download the app now so you never miss an important notification again.
