How to Stop Instagram From Telling Everyone That You Are Online
Android / iOS: Your favorite social network where you pretend to have the perfect life is now ready to let everyone know when you are online and in hiding. Instagram adds an activity status indicator to people on your private message list, telling you when they’re on and ignoring that last funny video you posted. If you are of the same opinion as me, you are probably wondering how to disable this awful new feature. Good news lurkers : you can!
This feature can be carried over from Facebook Messenger according to The Next Web , but just because you can know when someone is online and killing time by viewing images doesn’t mean you should.
Turn off the status indicator
Removing the status indicator, letting you recklessly hide, becoming obligated to no one claiming your time or attention is easy. Open the app, select the “Profile” tab and click the “Settings” icon. Scroll down and turn off Show Activity Status. The problem has been resolved.
Disabling this feature will prevent you from seeing everyone else’s activity status, but you might want to consider it a fair deal instead to hide your own presence from the world.
