Happy Hour With 3 Ingredients: Boulevard
Happy weekend everyone, and welcome back to Happy 3 Ingredient Hour , a weekly drinks column featuring very simple yet delicious libations. This week we’ll wake up the whiskey-focused cousin of the legendary Negroni, Boulevard.
While Negroni mixes Campari and sweet vermouth with gin, Boulevardier uses a spicy, more wintery approach with rye whiskey (you can also use bourbon, but I think that would be too sweet). This simple substitution makes the drink very different and what kind of drink it is. Basically, this is how I keep my Campari out in the cold when Camp & Soda feels too crunchy and Negroni feels too skinny. To make it yourself, you will need:
- 1 1/2 ounce rye whiskey
- 1 oz Campari
- 30 g sweet vermouth
Pour everything into a mixing glass filled with ice and stir until it cools well. Fill a glass compartment or low over a large stone and enjoy.
